STEP@biomaterials is the first and only Hellenic company that focus on Research, Development and Production of biomaterials and medical devices.
STEP@biomaterials is the first and only Hellenic company that specializes in the research and production of bone grafts medical devices and biomaterials. We started as a spin-off company of NCSR “Demokritos” in 2015 with the participation of researchers from the Institute of Biosciences and Applications, with experience in the fields of Biomaterials, Regenerative Medicine and Nanotechnology, the collaboration of investors with knowledge and experience. Since then we introduce new materials for clinical application of high efficiency and well tolerated profile.
The procedures of collection, storage and production of allografts follow strictly the Hellenic legislation, certified by the National Transplant Organization. In International level, and after the strategic affiliation with the Tissue Bank of Barcelona for the exchange of expertise, the rules that result from the
- European Directive 2004/23 and directives 2006/17/EC, 2006/86/EC, 2012/39/EU.
- European Association of Tissue Banks (EATB),
- American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB),
- ISO 13485:2016 and European Directive EU MDD No. 93/42/EEC
as well as the procedures of «Good Tissue Practices (Euro-GTP)» and «Council of Europe EDQM Guide to the quality and safety of tissues and cells for human application».
